Some local authorities require planning permission to allow you to fit a Solar PV system, especially in a conservation area or a listed building. Planning for Solar PV in England in now covered by permitted development rights with no need for planning permission. For installations elsewhere in the UK we would need to check with your local authority. There are certain restrictions to the above which we will discuss with you at the site survey.
In general most properties will not need planning permission, but you should always contact your Local Authority at an early stage to establish the situation for your specific project.
If you wish to install a solar panel on your roof building regulations will normally apply. The ability of the existing roof to carry the load (weight) of the panel will need to be checked and proven. Some strengthening work may also be needed.
Building regulations also apply to other aspects of the work such as electrical installation. We will discuss this with you at the initial consultation.
